Trudging
This Kindle highlight from Mary Pipher’s “Writing to Change the World” should bring great peace of mind to the countless aspiring writers who are starting, stopping, sprinting, pausing, hitting brick walls, giving up, starting again, and so on.
I so badly want to write. I want to share. It literally burns inside me. Don’t ask me why. But I wait until I’m in the right spot. I wait until its the right time of day. I wait until everything is off my plate so I can be fresh. And of course none of that shit ever happens. And it never will.
Intellectually I know what it takes to be a writer. You write always. You just do it. Even when you have nothing. Even when you have so much its overwhelming. You just write. I’ve had moments. But I’m inconsistent at best. Start. Stop. Start. Stop.
I bet after this I won’t write another word in this blog for weeks, could even be months. And there’s my book.
You just never know with trudgers like me.
Trudger. Such a perfect word.
What a great way to phrase it….I love the imagery. And isn’t it true for so many things in life. To become great you have to just keep at it, day after day…even when you just don’t “feel it”. Thank you!
